About Us

Mission

We shall supply the safest, the most environmentally friendly and cost effective solutions to our clients within the marine heavy lift market and work worldwide operating the Twin Marine Lifter together with regional partners.

Vision

SeaMetric International AS will become a key international player, together with strong regional partners in the marine heavy lift, construction support and heavy transportation markets, by owning and managing the Twin Marine Lifter (TML) Heavy Lift systems and owning and operating DP3 Heavy Transport Vessels (HTVs).

Strategy

Initially SeaMetric will focus on pursuing (i) long-term contracts with major state-owned oil companies in the Far East and Latin America and (ii) contracts with smaller oil companies in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico which are acquiring “tail-end” production assets from the oil majors. At the same time SeaMetric will establish local operating companies, in these regions, jointly owned with regional EPCI and/or marine contractors. Additionally, SeaMetric will establish a global cooperation arrangement with a major international contractor to ensure all projects are managed professionally and completed to the required standards both technically and commercially. When the above-mentioned long-term arrangements are secured, SeaMetric and its partners will also focus on the global spot market.

The TML Systems and technology will remain under the ownership of SeaMetric International AS and will be chartered to the jointly-owned regional operating companies. SeaMetric will also provide operational and technical support and expertise to the operating companies to ensure that the capabilities and flexibility of the TML assets are fully utilized to the maximum benefit of clients, shareholders and other stakeholders.

History

SeaMetric was founded 2000 to develop a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly marine heavy lift system – since then SeaMetric has developed the Twin Marine Lifter for installation and removal of very heavy objects. In addition SeaMetric is now developing heavy transport vessels to support the TML system marine operations.

The Twin Marine Lifter (TML)-system is based on a novel way of combining existing proven technologies. Since the establishment, a number of model tests, analyses and technical studies have been performed to confirm the TML systems feasibility and to identify the systems revolutionary technical merits.

The following activities have been completed:

• Environmental assessments (DNV)
• HAZID-Studies of operations (DNV and Safetec)
• Marine stability and motion analyses (Marintek /Sintef)
• Hydrodynamic calculations (Marintek/Sintef)
• Model testing, 5 – off between August 2000 and December 2007 (Marintek)
• A number of technical and operational studies for oil companies

The results of the various test and studies have been proven the functionality and versatility of the TML-system and have also showed benefits that previously had never existed with other heavy lift systems.
Marine lift operation feasibility and cost studies have documented the TML systems very strong competitiveness due to quick operations, low manning and due to the TML systems inherent motion-damping capabilities. Evaluations performed by 3rd parties on the concept principle, operation execution and environmental aspects, have also been very positive and assuring. The system is based on simple principles and proven technologies, but combined in a uniquely new arrangement. The operation will be considerably more environmental friendly and cost effective than traditional heavy lifts, and robust towards harsh weather. Safety and energy consumption have been given priority.
There are no major technical or operational issues outstanding, and the industry look upon the Twin Marine Lifter as a front-runner within the new heavy lift systems.

The TML-system offers:

• Reduced energy consumption and emissions
• Improved safety level (low manned requirement and quick operation)
• Reduced cost due to shorter preparation and operation time , ie low OPEX
• Low CAPEX compared to existing technologies
• Flexibility regarding weight, dimentions and configuration
• Can install, remove or relocate both topsides, jackets, subsea structures and construction elements, ie great functionality and versatility

Main sponsors:

Main sponsors in the development of the Twin Marine Lifter marine heavy lift system have been SND/Innovation Norway, European Commission, The Research Council of Norway, Total E&P Norge AS (former TotalFinaElf), ConocoPhillips, BP UK, Shell UK and Kerr McGee and the shareowners of SeaMetric International AS.
