Project Studies & Cost Estimates based on the Twin Marine Lifter (TML) technology
SeaMetric, with our operating office in Stavanger, provides engineering services to the Exploration and Production, Construction, and Transportation sectors of the energy industry worldwide. Our areas of technical expertise, including installation and removal of marine structures and marine transportation of heavy objects, enable us to offer key expertise throughout the lifetime of offshore oil and gas reserves.
Installation of Offshore Platforms (Jackets & Topsides), Modules and Subsea facilities
Transport and installation of fixed platforms is one of our principal activities using our TML System and single-lift techniques that we have developed to enable our clients to achieve cost effective development solutions. The first TML System is scheduled to commence operation early 2012.
The special features of our TML System are:
- Semi submersible hull shapes, reducing weather downtime and improving first oil dates
- Lifting arms for single-lift installation of jackets and integrated decks
- Transportation of other equipment on the TML vessel’s deck, reducing cost and improving flexibility
- Provision of accommodation during hook-up support
- The large deck work area and the vessels’ motion behaviour provide a safe working environment for all people onboard
- To provide a global service, it is planned to locate TML Systems in the North East Pacific, Latin America, Europe, USA and South Asia Pacific
Offshore Construction Support
Since it is a simple operation to skid-off the lifting arms and skid-on other equipment such as an accommodation module, marine crane or piling equipment, the TML vessels can be rapidly converted for use as offshore construction support vessels
Removal of Redundant Offshore Facilities
Single-lift is our method for executing platform decommissioning & removal projects. Our TML System supports the entire removal process as follows:
Platform Decommissioning:
Typical activities include gas freeing and cleaning, cutting and removal of conductors, risers and caissons and installation of lifting aids.
The TML vessels can also act as accommodation and support vessels.
Topsides Removal:
Topsides are removed in a single-lift; i.e. the topsides is placed on a transportation barge or deck of the TML vessel.
Topsides Offloading:
The topsides are transported to a quayside for disposal or onshore storage. Offloading can be carried out by lifting, skidding or by means of trailers.
Jacket Preparatory Work:
The jacket is prepared for removal by installing lift points, rigging, spreader bars and other lifting aids.
Pile Cutting / Soil Plug Removal / Conductor Removal:
These activities require specialised cutting and removal equipment.
Jacket Removal:
Jackets are removed in a single-lift; i.e. the jacket is lifted from the seabed and placed on a transportation barge or deck of the TML vessel.
Jacket Offloading:
Jackets are transported to a quayside for disposal or storage. Offloading can be carried out by lifting, skidding or trailers.
Marine Installation / Removal of Miscellaneous Heavy Objects (bridges etc)
With the techniques developed for the offshore oil and gas industry, our TML System can also install or remove other heavy objects in a marine environment such as bridges, offshore windmills shipwrecks etc.
Marine Transportation of Heavy Objects
As with Construction Support, it is a simple operation to skid-off the lifting arms and utilise the TML vessels for long distance transportation of heavy objects up to 35000DWT. With a speed of 10-12 knots, the TML vessels are an effective solution for transportation of heavy industrial loads
